Trying to explain the most characteristic aspects of Andalusia is a difficult task, as if there is one thing we can boast about in this region, it is our tradition. White houses
In Andalusia, there are many villages steeped in history, characterised by their whitewashed houses and streets. There is even a ‘White Villages’ route that covers the provinces of Cádiz, Almería and Málaga. Some of these villages include Mijas, Arcos de la Frontera and Vejer de la Frontera.
Flamenco
If there is one thing with which Spain – and Andalusia in particular – is associated abroad, it is flamenco. Flamenco emerged thanks to the cultural fusion that took place during the Al-Andalus period in the 15th century. Initially, flamenco was regarded as a style of dance and music associated with minority groups and the lower classes. However, over time it has come to be included on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and is now practised all over the world.
Gastronomy

Another typical feature of Andalusia that you simply mustn’t miss is the patios. Patios are a historical legacy left to us by the Roman and Arab cultures during their time in the province. In the past, patios were considered the heart of the home, as they connected all the different areas of the house.

Everyone has a different personality and character, but there’s no denying that if there’s one thing we Andalusians can boast about, it’s that we exude art from every pore. You can chat to the shop assistant at the supermarket or to the biznaguero who will always greet you with a smile.
